MŪ11 Bed

The MŪ11 bed was designed to subtly reference the shape of a torii, a traditional Japanese structure placed at the entrance of shrines as a symbol of the passage from the ordinary to the sacred. The bed’s top extends horizontally beyond the frame, providing simple storage space on each side. The solid oak frame is elevated by a steel structure and glides, creating a surprising contrast between the timber’s warm texture and the metal base’s graphic lines.

Designer: Chris van Niekerk
Year of design: 2019–2022

The bed is shown in dark brown oak.
